Hey Guys, One of my new years resolutions is to start blogging again. I’ve started a new blog over here: http://robmorgan.id.au. Check it out, Cheers Rob.

Obvious Corp and Twitter

Tuesday, March 13th, 2007

I was just checking Technorati tonight for details on the blogosphere when I saw Twitter at number #3 for popular searches. I thought to myself this is amazing. I’ve been a registered user on Twitter since it’s inception, although my activity has been somewhat appalling. For those of you that don’t know about Twitter, it is often summarised with the Quip: “Twitter asks the question, What are you doing now?”. It is like a tumblelog for your personal activities and of course you can see what others are doing as well. Alot of users consider Twitter addictive.

When Obvious (Twitter’s Parent) announced recently they were selling Odeo, I thought they would become another bright star fading out in the horizon. I thought of Twitter, but did not expect it to be so successful as a key product to focus on. Many people argue why Odeo flunked, some (including me) blame it on the explosive growth of iTunes – in particular the podcast directory. I guess Obvious are in luck with a new mainstream product.

Getting around to it!

Typepad Perks

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005

We’ve all come to know Six Apart’s online blogging product, TypePad. They also produce the infamous Movable Type publishing platform.

Recently Six Apart added WYSIWYG support for TypePad along with another host of features. This brings TypePad up-to-par with the capabilities of Blogger. Whilst Blogger is free and Google-supported, TypePad really offers a more advanced environment. The only downside is TypePad costs money – and I am a stronger believer in not paying to publish your own thoughts and opinions.

Back to Blogger

Blogger now has a WYSIWYG editor!

Not long ago I shifted from my trusty Movable Type installation across to Blogger. This happened just after Google acquired blogger, not so long ago.

As you may of noticed I jumped ship once again to head back towards Movable Type with the release of version 3.0 and the controversial pricing scheme.

It occurred to me recently that I was short of time to manually upgrade MT for feature updates. Why not use a free service provided that care of that stuff for me? The answer was simple, implement my new site theme into Blogger templates and head back to Blogger.com.

Word Press

Word Press: “is a state-of-the-art semantic personal publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability. What a mouthful.” (wordpress.org)

Waiting for MySQL to be installed on my host so I can whack on Word Press and start creating sites on par with my old movable type package.
