HP LightScribe Burners

Saturday, April 8th, 2006

Okay, So I finally ended up buying a HP lightscribe burner. The dvd640 to be exact. I got it from NetPlus for $89. I know at my work we were selling LG burners (which in fact are rebadged HP’s) for alot less ($55 or so) but they were OEM. I didn’t really read up too much on Lightscribe technology, but you need special disks for it to work correctly. The coating on top of the disks is burned by the dvdr laser to produce a grayscale image. This is really handy, because I always lose my permanent marker!!! However I’ve spent all of yesterday looking for lightscribe media from retail shops, but they seem hard to find. I’m pretty much after generic media, I dont care for quality or data life because nothing important of mine is backed-up to cd/dvd. Anybody know?
